About

I am a follower of Jesus Christ.

Family is important to me. I have been married to my wife for going on 28 years at the time of writing. I have four kids and one grandchild, two dogs and a cat.

After retiring from the Air Force (20 years) I began my second career as a high school English teacher. I teach Advanced Placement Literature and Composition to seniors, the AP Capstone program (AP Seminar/Research), and am director of the Eagle Writing Center on campus.

Together, my wife and I thoroughly enjoy the outdoors and traveling. Our favorite destinations typically are state and national parks. There are few things better than watching fireflies in a dark forrest near the mountains. We love to travel in our RV and are currently working on checking off every state in the continental US. I’m not a big fan of places with a lot of concrete; they have their use, but in a limited sense.

My interests include literature (naturally) and philosophy. It’s nearly impossible to narrow down to a favorite author so I won’t try, but I am a big Shakespeare fan. I love music of all sorts, but I have a particular affinity for the more complex. I generally do the cooking in our family and I have recently begun to oil paint.

I have a bachelor’s degree from Abilene Christian University in English Education and a Master of Arts degree in English, also from ACU where I am an adjunct instructor.
